THE
NPFA PROGRAMME DECLARATION
The main objectives of the Association are:
To work for that
trade interests are taken into consideration in questions which are
of interest for the trade in general, more particularly regarding contacts
with official authorities such as The Agriculture Department or The
Consumer Department.
To work for increased
knowledge about the pet food trade as a serious and conscious industry
trade.
To emphasise increased
understanding for keeping dogs and cats as well as other pets, in the
Nordic countries and to contribute in solving problems connected to
pet ownership.
To collect and provide
facts that are relevant to the pet food trade business areas, and to
use the information as reference material (e g upon inquiries from authorities
and media).
To develop industry
norms, marketing guidelines and relevant policies and point out deviations
from these.
To encourage an environmentally
friendly "best practice" regarding sources of purchase, production,
packaging, distribution and waste handling.
To support, co-ordinate
and function as information centre in cases of crisis.
To work for international
co-operation within the pet food trade, between companies as well as
authorities.
To act as an open
discussion forum in trade related questions that might affect the trade
as a whole, or major parts of it.The Association does not deal with
questions or agreements that might mean limitations or regulations for
separate member companies' competition situation. Conflicts between
member companies regarding actions that might conflict against the Programme
Declaration of the Association, should not be published unless the NPFA
has given the opportunity to mediate between the parties.
To work for harmonisation
of EU legislation through the membership of FEDIAF, and against any
trade barriers.
To promote responsible
pet ownership.
